What taking part actually involves

Three kinds of contact make up the study — two inpatient stays, a series of clinic visits, and a few short phone check-ins.

2
Overnight clinic stays
Two 5-night stays at the clinic (Day -1 to Day 5, and Day 28 to Day 33), each including a dosing day.
18
Clinic visits
Screening, 15 outpatient follow-ups, and an end-of-study visit — most take 1–2 hours.
4
Phone check-ins
Short calls (10–20 mins) with the study team at Day 211, 295, 421 and 505.
About the study

What's involved

This study is testing an experimental medicine to find out how safe it is, and how the body absorbs, distributes and clears it, after multiple doses are given by injection under the skin (subcutaneous). It's a Phase 1, first-in-human study — the first time this medicine has been given to people.

You'll receive two doses of the study drug, four weeks apart, across two separate inpatient stays. Some participants will receive the study drug and some will receive placebo — neither you nor the study team will know which, unless it's medically necessary to find out. The study uses a "dose escalation" design: small groups (cohorts of around 8 people) each receive a higher dose than the last, only once the previous dose has been reviewed as safe. Within each group, 6 people receive the study drug and 2 receive placebo.

We won't go into what condition the medicine is being developed for on this page — the study doctor will explain the full background, purpose and any risks in detail during your screening call, before you decide whether to take part.
